Joseph Siegmann, Esq.

Joseph Siegmann, Esq.  focuses on international tax and business.  In addition to supporting the firm’s established international tax practice areas, he has a particular interest in the taxation of intellectual property and transfer pricing of intangibles.  He has experience in estate tax and is closely following implementation of the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA).  Mr. Siegmann has considerable experience in state sales and use tax rules, regulations and controversies.

Mr. Siegmann joined Flott & Co. in October 2012. He worked previously as a tax consultant for Ryan, LLC, concentrating on assisting clients with audit defense, tax advice and opinion on the taxability of sales and use tax transactions.  Prior to joining Ryan, LLC he was associate editor of Wealth Strategies Journal where he posted articles on a variety of tax topics.  Previously, he worked for law firms in Maryland and Virginia, handling primarily tax and estate matters.

Mr. Siegmann earned an LLM in Taxation with a concentration on international tax from Boston University School of Law in May 2011, a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from The George Washington University Law School in Washington, DC in May 2007, and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in International Relations and Political Economy from James Madison College at Michigan State University in December 2003.  He is admitted to practice law in Virginia, New York, the District of Columbia and Maryland and to the United States Tax Court.
